PLEA has been opening doors for children and families facing challenges since 1979 and provides tailor made services to meet individuals needs and circumstances.

PLEA is a COA accredited community service organization.
Daughters and Sisters and Waypoint are unique residential treatment programs. Our goal is to decrease substance abuse, criminal behaviours and high risk activity. Both programs are funded by MCFD Provincial Services; the Fraser Health Authority funds two beds in Daughters and Sisters.
We follow strategies designed to address the particular needs of adolescent
women and men, and can work with youth that may not be treatment-ready at
intake. The young people reside with PLEA Family Caregivers who are part
of the treatment team, and are trained to reinforce the learning from the
day treatment program. They are also trained in detox, stabilization and
supported recovery. Day, evening and weekend programming, located at separate
day centres, includes individual and group counselling, an education program
delivered by District #43 (Surrey) teachers, parent-teen mediation and family
counselling, and a wide range of social and recreational activities.
Daughters & Sisters is designed for and works with young women. There is now space for eight residents in this 6-month program. Referrals are accepted from probation officers or addictions counsellors. The program is located in Surrey; access is province-wide.

Waypoint is designed for and works with young men, with province-wide
access through probation officers only. There is now space for eight residents
in this 4-6 month program; it is also located in Surrey. In 2005, we bought
and renovated a new day program facility that is tailored to our needs and
is in an ideal setting.

Detox and Supported Recovery Services are available to young persons referred through Vancouver Coastal Health. Our Addictions Counsellor arranges a treatment plan and oversees the placement. PLEA Family Caregivers are trained in community detox and supported recovery. They provide support in a transitional home in order to continue addictions treatment and a supportive setting for assessment and stabilization.
